Shed Showdown
When a barbecue competition becomes a content engine
Shed Showdown isn’t just another barbecue competition.
Every year, hundreds of teams, thousands of attendees, and some of the biggest names in barbecue descend on The Shed BBQ & Blues Joint in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The event has all the ingredients of a great social media story: competition, characters, food, culture, music, and unforgettable moments.
The challenge.
Most event coverage ends when the event does. The Shed Barbeque & Blues Joint in Ocean Springs, Mississippi wanted something different.
They needed a social-first coverage strategy that could:
- Expand awareness of The Shed beyond the Gulf Coast
- Position Shed Showdown as a destination barbecue competition
- Increase audience growth across social platforms
- Create meaningful exposure for event sponsors
- Extend the lifespan of the event long after attendees went home

Capture, publish, amplify.
To maximize reach and relevance, we built a real-time content operation designed for speed, scale, and platform performance.
Our strategy centered around five principles:
- Capture the energy. Document authentic competition moments, crowd interactions, food culture, behind-the-scenes access, and everything that makes Shed Showdown unlike any other event.
- Publish in real time. Shorten the gap between moment and distribution to maximize engagement and algorithmic reach.
- Optimize for every platform. Content was tailored specifically for TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook with multi-image posts, carousels, Reels, Stories, and short-form video consumption.
- Drive volume to drive visibility. High-frequency posting increased discoverability and created momentum throughout the event weekend.
- Integrate sponsors organically. Rather than treating sponsors as signage, we embedded brands into authentic event moments that audiences actually wanted to engage with.
The result was a social operation that never stopped moving.

The results.
Over a concentrated three-day event window, Shed Showdown generated massive visibility across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
